Dr. Valarmathi S is an accomplished academician, media professional, and researcher with over 20 years of academic experience and 10 years of industry experience in media, sound engineering, filmmaking, and communication. She is passionate about integrating artificial intelligence and emerging technologies into media education, equipping students with the creative and technical skills required for the evolving digital landscape.
Throughout her career, Dr. Valarmathi has demonstrated excellence in sound engineering, filmmaking, media production, curriculum development, and academic leadership. Her professional experience includes contributions to feature films, television broadcasting, and documentary filmmaking, with expertise in live sound engineering, audio mixing, video editing, and digital media production. She has also held leadership positions as Head of Department, playing a key role in curriculum design, academic planning, and faculty development.
An active researcher, Dr. Valarmathi’s scholarly interests focus on Artificial Intelligence in Film and Media, Digital Transformation, the Digital Divide, Women in Media, Mental Health Representation, and Emerging Media Technologies. Her research and innovative contributions have earned national and international recognition.
Among her notable achievements, she received the Best Professor Award (Sirantha Peraasiriyar) at the World Senior Citizens Day 2025, the prestigious Pinnacle of Inspiration Award at the Inspire Awards 2025 presented by The Bridge Trust, and the Poster Gold Award at an international conference in Malaysia for her research on Generative AI and Student Creativity. She has also been recognized for her literary contribution with the “Nature’s Mirror” Award by BookLeaf Publishing.
