Bio
Mr. Deepak Chawla is a seasoned business leader, human resource strategist, author, and creative artist, with over 37 years of rich and diverse experience across multiple sectors and functions. His illustrious career spans power, telecom, infrastructure, transportation, education, and IT services, and he has made significant contributions in operations, project execution, business development, sales & marketing, strategy, planning, and human resources.
He currently serves as an Independent Director on the Board of Garware Hi-Tech Films Ltd., a listed company, where he is the Chairman of the Risk Management Committee and the Nomination & Remuneration Committee. He is also the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) at Universal Ai University, Karjat, and Advisor – Strategic HR at Highbar Technocrat Ltd., an SAP Gold Partner based in Navi Mumbai.
Previously, Mr. Chawla was Director – Human Resources Training at SVKM (Shri Vile Parle Kelavani Mandal), one of India’s premier education groups, which operates the prestigious NMIMS University. He has also held the position of Director – Management Development and Consulting at Universal Business School.
A major part of his corporate legacy was shaped at Reliance Infrastructure Ltd., where he served as CHRO and Senior Executive Vice President, overseeing the HR function for its Power, Metro, Roads, EPC, and Defence businesses, managing a workforce of over 20,000 employees, both on-roll and contractual. His people initiatives at Reliance Infrastructure earned him several national and international awards, including:

Mr. Deepak Chawla is a Certified Independent Director and a Certified Professional Coach, and is often invited as a keynote speaker at leading industry and academic forums. A committed community contributor, he has been an active member of the Rotary Club, holding key positions in District 3141, Mumbai.
Beyond the boardroom, Mr. Chawla is a passionate author and artist. He has written two English novels—“Business as Usual” and “Between You and Me”—and has published multiple Hindi poetry collections, including “Rubaru,” “Sajda,” “Aazmaish,” and “Darmiyaan.” He has also explored the world of acting through OTT platforms, showcasing his creative versatility.
