Prof. Elora Basumatary

Bio
Elora Basumatary is an outcome-focused and dynamic professional with 22 years of diverse experience across industries, geographies, and academia. She currently serves as the Head of Quality at Universal Ai University, Karjat, Mumbai, where she leads initiatives to strengthen academic standards, quality frameworks, and institutional excellence.
Prior to this role, she was Program Director at Universal Business School, where she managed student engagement, progression, international partnerships, and experiential learning. She also teaches courses in Marketing, Strategy, Innovation, and Insurance, combining her corporate insights with academic expertise. In addition, she serves as the adult supervisor of GirlUp UAi, part of GirlUp, a leadership initiative under the United Nations Foundation, empowering young women leaders.
Before transitioning to academia in 2016, Prof. Elora built a successful 13-year corporate career in the insurance and reinsurance sector, holding leadership positions across the Middle East and North Africa region. She is also an Associate of the Insurance Institute of India.
An active researcher and case writer, Prof. Elora has:
- Four case studies published with The Case Centre, UK, with nearly 1,000 global sales.
- One case study published with Ivey Publishing, Canada, also featured in the Harvard Business Review.
- Six high-impact, peer-reviewed research papers in areas including customer experience, sustainable business models, and international business strategy.
Driven by her passion for youth development, innovation, and holistic education, Prof. Elora continues to inspire students and contribute meaningfully to both academia and industry.
