Bio
Hristina Filipova, PhD, is a Chief Assistant Professor at the University of Economics – Varna, Bulgaria, in the Department of Tourism. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Economic Relations, a Master’s degree in Management of Taste and Luxury Goods from the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne, France, and a PhD in Tourism from the University of Economics – Varna.
Her research interests lie at the intersection of social psychology, intercultural communication, and consumer behavior, with a strong focus on global tourism, cultural perception, restaurant management, and both tangible and intangible cultural heritage.
Dr. Filipova has authored and co-authored more than 30 research papers, including publications indexed in Scopus and Web of Science, and has participated in over 10 scientific projects. Her work reflects a multidisciplinary approach that bridges academic research with practical applications in the tourism and hospitality industries.
She is an active member of the Union of Scientists in Bulgaria and a two-time recipient of the Varna Collective Award for Science and Education in the field of Social Sciences. Her most recent recognition was for her co-authored monographic work “Development of a Smart Tourism Destination.”
Fluent in Bulgarian, French, English, and Japanese, Dr. Filipova brings an international perspective to her teaching, research, and public speaking engagements.
