After spending a week on the campus, attending perennial sessions and giving presentations, we were informed that all cohorts would be going for a trekking expedition on the weekend. The faces that were once sullen now brimmed with cheerfulness.
As the sun rose on the day of our trek, the excitement was palpable. We gathered at the lobby, where we were divided into sub-groups but united by our love for nature. The sudden freedom was overwhelming, akin to a bird rediscovering its natural habitat after spending years in a cage.
“We are not here to help you but here to support you because at the end you will proudly say, ‘I DID IT, I MADE IT,'” Payal mam said, and her words really conveyed a powerful message. It’s all about our journey—how we start and how we end it. Hurdles will come and go, so take the support of people, but don’t depend on them. Complete it all by yourself because WE CAN DO IT, WE WILL DO IT.
We started moving towards our destination, and at every turn, we were welcomed by breathtaking landscapes, majestic mountains, and vibrant flora. It reminded us that a journey is not just about reaching the destination but about embracing the journey itself.
Most of the learners were on a trek for the first time. Each step brought new challenges, we pushed ourselves out of our comfort zones. Laughter echoed as we stumbled and slipped multiple times, but we managed to get up again with the help of our fellow team members. Despite the challenges, we found strength in unity.
The best part of the whole expedition was yet to come. As we moved closer to our destination, our ears were greeted with the steady burble of running water. Our expectations and excitement soared, and our speed automatically accelerated.
Finally, after hours of trekking, we caught the final glimpse of the waterfall. The crystal-clear water invited us for a refreshing dip. Cooling off in the natural fall, surrounded by the beauty of nature, was an experience beyond words.
Then it was time to bid farewell to the waterfall and begin our descent towards the campus. Though the journey back was indeed tiring, we carry memories that will last a lifetime. The beauty of nature and the waterfall will remain in our hearts, forever reminding us of the roots of our existence.
